Hi, I'm Nate. As an independent agent, I work for you, not for one insurance company. I shop multiple
carriers for life insurance, annuities and retirement, Medicare, health insurance, and more. I'll explain
your options in plain English, answer every question, and help you find something that fits your life and your budget.
Whether retirement is a few years out or already here, I can help you look at ways to protect what you've saved and turn it into income you can count on.

Why I do this work
I'm Nate Hall, an independent insurance agent based in Hartford, South Dakota.
I've been through some hard seasons in my own life, and they taught me something I don't take
lightly: when things go wrong, the right protection makes a real difference for the people you love.
I've seen what it means for a family to have a plan in place, and what it's like when they don't.
That's why I do this. My job isn't to sell you the biggest policy. It's to listen, learn what
matters to your family, and lay out your options honestly so you can make a decision you feel good about.
If the right answer is to keep what you already have, I'll tell you that too.
Because I'm an independent agent, I'm not tied to any one insurance company. I work with multiple carriers,
so I can shop around and compare options side by side to find what fits you best. You'll work with me directly
from your first question to the day your coverage is in place, and after that too.
Life Insurance
Life insurance pays money to the people you choose if you pass away while the policy is active. Term life covers a set number of years, like while kids are at home or a mortgage is being paid, and permanent life is built to last your whole life. Final expense coverage, a smaller policy that helps with funeral and end-of-life costs, falls here too.
Who it's for: Parents, spouses, homeowners, and anyone whose family counts on their income or care, plus older adults who want funeral costs taken care of ahead of time.
Retirement planning
Annuities & Retirement
Retirement planning is about making sure your savings last as long as you do. An annuity is a contract with an insurance company: you set money aside, and in return it can grow over time or pay you income later, sometimes for life. Terms and fees vary a lot, so we'll go over the details together before you decide anything.
Who it's for: People nearing or in retirement who want to protect what they've saved or create a steady income.
Medicare
Medicare has a lot of moving parts: Original Medicare, supplement (Medigap) plans, Medicare Advantage, and prescription drug plans. I'll help you understand how the pieces fit together and compare options so you can choose coverage that works for your doctors, prescriptions, and budget.
Who it's for: People turning 65, retiring, or already on Medicare who want a second look at their coverage.
Health Insurance
Health insurance helps pay for doctor visits, hospital stays, prescriptions, and preventive care. If you don't get coverage through an employer, I can help you compare plans and make sense of deductibles, networks, and out-of-pocket costs.
Who it's for: Self-employed folks, early retirees under 65, people between jobs, and families buying their own coverage.
Cancer & Critical Illness
This supplemental coverage pays a cash benefit if you're diagnosed with a covered condition, such as cancer, a heart attack, or a stroke, depending on the policy. That money can help with what health insurance doesn't fully cover, like deductibles, travel to treatment, or bills at home while you recover.
Who it's for: Families who want an extra cushion, especially with a high-deductible health plan or a family history of serious illness.
Long-Term Care
Long-term care coverage helps pay for care if you can no longer handle everyday activities on your own because of aging, illness, or injury. Depending on the policy, that can include in-home care, assisted living, or a nursing home. Planning ahead can help protect your savings and give your family more options.
Who it's for: Adults planning ahead who don't want future care costs to fall entirely on their savings or their kids.
Cancer insurance is supplemental coverage that pays a cash benefit if you're diagnosed with a covered cancer. That money can help with what health insurance doesn't fully cover, like deductibles, travel to treatment, or bills at home while you recover.
Who it's for: Families who want an extra cushion, especially with a high-deductible health plan or a family history of cancer.

Why Work With an Independent Agent
I work for you, not for one insurance company. Here's what that means.
I shop multiple companies
I'm not tied to one insurance company. I work with multiple carriers, compare options side by side, and show you what fits.
Coverage that fits your family
Your age, budget, and health history all matter. I match coverage to your situation, not the other way around.
Personal service
Meet in person, by phone, or virtually, and you'll always talk to me, not a call center. I'm here for questions and claims long after the paperwork is done.
No-pressure quotes
A quote is free and comes with no obligation. Take your time, ask questions, and decide when you're ready.
What Clients Say
Common Questions
General answers to get you started. Every situation is different, so I'm always happy to talk through yours.
Term life covers you for a set period, often 10, 20, or 30 years. It usually costs less and is a common way to protect a family during the years they depend on your income. Whole life is a type of permanent coverage designed to last your entire life, and it can build cash value over time. It typically costs more for the same amount of coverage. Many families use one, the other, or a mix.
Final expense is a type of life insurance: a small whole life policy. When the insured person passes away, the benefit goes to the beneficiary, who can generally use it however they need. Most families use it for funeral and burial costs, final medical bills, or other debts left behind. Coverage amounts are usually smaller than a traditional life policy.
A good time to start is a few months before you turn 65. Your Initial Enrollment Period for Medicare is a seven-month window that starts three months before the month you turn 65. If you want a Medicare supplement (Medigap) plan, your Medigap open enrollment period is the six months that begin the month you're 65 or older and enrolled in Part B. During that window, companies generally can't turn you down or charge you more because of your health. If you're still working past 65, the timing can be different, so it's worth talking through.
An annuity is an agreement with an insurance company. You pay in, either all at once or over time, and the company agrees to grow that money and/or pay it back to you as income later. Some annuities are designed to protect part of your savings from market downturns, and some can provide income for as long as you live. They often have surrender periods and fees, so it's important to understand the details before you buy.
Many people start looking in their 50s or early 60s. You're more likely to qualify while you're healthy, and costs are generally lower the younger you are when you buy. Waiting can mean higher costs or fewer options. Even if you decide it's not for you, it's worth having a plan for how care would be paid for if you ever need it.
No. I'm an independent agent, so I work with multiple carriers. That lets me compare options from different companies and recommend what fits your situation, instead of fitting you into one company's products.
No. A quote is free, and asking for one doesn't obligate you to anything. I'll walk you through the numbers, answer your questions, and you can take as much time as you need to decide.
Not at all. We can meet in person, by phone, or virtually, whichever is easiest for you. I help clients across South Dakota, North Dakota, Iowa, Nebraska, and Minnesota.
